Kimberly Lacher, PE, is a Petroleum Engineer specializing in acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas properties. A graduate of the Colorado School of Mines (BS) and Southern Methodist University (MBA), she founded Dallas-based Derive Petroleum Consulting to assist clients with acquisition engineering and deal sourcing.


Kimberly began her career in 1997 with Union Pacific Resources, where she held positions as a production and operations engineer in Fort Worth, and as a field engineer in Carthage, TX. Upon the sale of UPR, she was employed by Five States Energy, where she began SMU’s MBA program and became a reservoir and acquisitions engineer. In 2005, she joined Hunt Petroleum Corporation as a reservoir engineer, later transferring to their corporate Acquisitions and Divestitures team. When the company was sold to XTO Energy in 2008, she headed the engineering department of a family office primarily invested in non-operated oil and gas properties.  In 2012 Kimberly co-founded Dallas based Vendera Resources, an institutionally backed oil and gas investment firm specializing in acquiring producing oil and gas assets.  Kimberly served as Vendera's President and head of its technical team until leaving the firm in July 2019 to pursue a different strategy. 


Kimberly is a registered and licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, and Derive Petroleum Consulting is a Texas registered professional engineering firm.  She is an active member of many industry organizations, including the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers and ADAM Energy Forum.  Additionally Kimberly is a Certified Petroleum Engineer by the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
